Somalia is a country that has been without a functioning national government for 18 years. In southern Somalia Ismlamists have stoned a man to death for adultery. His pregnant girlfriend was spared until such time as she gives birth.

Abas Hussein Abdirahman, 33, was killed in the port town of Merka, in front of a crowd of approximately 300 people. This is the third time Islamists have stoned a person to death for adultery in the past year.
