Three Basic Human Needs
A survey conducted by Jose & Lena Stevens, Pivotal Resources and JP Van Hulle, Michael Education Foundation, discovered that Security, Adventure and Freedom are the top 3 basic human need needs.
- The feeling of security, both at home and in the community;
- The ability to have new experiences and adventure in life;
- The freedom to make choices for independence and spontaneity.
In many places in the world, there are children who will never have that privilege, because they lack education.

In the far north islands of the Vanuatu archipelago in the South Pacific, many children will never have the opportunity to go to high school. They live in a Cashless Society.
This is very difficult for most of us to imagine, but it is a reality for these kids. They can’t go down the street and buy an icecream, or watch TV. They can’t pick up a telephone or use a computer. They live in a fabulous untouched wilderness, but they have been left behind by the 21st century, locked in the no-man’s land between custom living and the modern world.
- They experience the security of the extended family in village life, but they will never experience the security of being part of the wider universal family.
- They know the adventure of exploring their untouched wilderness island, but they will never know the adventure of experience things beyond their own small island and village.
- They have the freedom to wander over their island, or fish in the outrigger canoe, but they will never have the freedom to take an active part in the 21st Century…

- Only 56% of kids will get to year 6
- Only 18.2 % will go to high school
- 26% never go to school at all
There is little improvement in these statistics since the survey in 1999!
YouMe Support Foundation’s Vision goes way beyond providing just high school education. As we progress we will reveal more details to Friends Educating Kids of how we will move the students and their community towards financial independence.
